O Mekong, o rio com maior biodiversidade do mundo a seguir ao Amazonas, serpenteia-se ao longo de 4.500 quilómetros pelo Sudeste Asiático. Vai desde o planalto tibetano, atravessa a província chinesa de Yunnan, a Birmânia, o Laos, a Tailândia, o Camboja e o Vietname. Durante séculos, tem sido a linha de vida social e cultural da região. As mais de 1.200 espécies de peixes conhecidas no Mekong salvaram milhões de pessoas da fome durante as secas, as cheias e o regime assassino de Pol Pot no Camboja.
Miguel Hahn e Jan-Christoph Hartung são uma dupla de fotógrafos sediada em Berlim. Estudaram fotografia na University of Applied Sciences em Darmstadt. Em 2009 começaram a trabalhar em equipa.
